We’re finally back from our elongated Christmas break, and we have a lot to talk about before we get to our picks, including: Get to Know Your Rabbit, Taken 2, The Dark Knight Rises and the Dutch killer-St.Nick movie Saint.
Mariam’s pick this week is Nicolas Winding Refn’s film Bronson, about Mickey “Charles Bronson” Petersen, the most dangerous prisoner in the history of England. Ari had previously hated Refn’s Valhalla Rising and been totally indifferent to his 80’s pastiche Drive, but what will he make of Bronson?
Ari’s pick is Sam Raimi’s superhero monster-movie mash-up Darkman. The film stars Liam Neeson as a scientist who is hideously scarred by a mob of thugs, and vows revenge. Mariam had never even heard of this film, and kind of thought Ari was making it up. But what will she make of the film, if it even exists?
